STORY OF THE PICTURE
The inscription R. Mutt 1917 refers to the great Marcel Duchamp and his legendary hype with the exhibit “The Fountain”.
In the early twentieth century, Duchamp tried to tell conservative visitors to the exhibition that if they took a urinal shell and turned it around, it would become a fountain.
It was a very significant turning point in art history. Since then, almost anything can become art.
In my case, it’s a little experience in a specialist gearbox repair shop. The foreman took the crank, put it on a bare gearbox on his workbench, started turning it and listening to the sounds of the sprockets to hear if the piece was quite right yet.
The gearbox suddenly looked for a moment like a strange barrel organ.
