THE STORY OF THE PAINTING – HALF-FIVERS

Honestly… coming up with a name for a painting can be a real puzzle. This particular abstract piece simply reminded me of a memory from my youth.

I was lying in a meadow, slowly squinting into the daylight after a half-sleepless night filled with concerts and Moravian wine. It was May, and above my head fluttered a chorus of outrageously cheerful birds.

It was half-past four in the morning.

“Half-fivers!” – that’s what I called them.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PAINTING

The dripping technique was invented and popularised by Jackson Pollock – I recommend having a look at some of his pieces. He occasionally threw paint lids or even cigarette butts into his canvases.

I haven’t gone quite that far yet. For now, I’m sticking to acrylic and oil paints.
