STORY OF THE PICTURE
This piece was created sort of experimentally, spontaneously. I painted the canvas several times, on which I layered thin and thick layers of paint.
Finally, a vase with flowers was created on it. Or maybe it was more like a skull turned around. A demise and a birth at the same time. A phoenix. Hamlet’s question: “To be or not to be”.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PICTURE
When viewed closely, the delicate blue drawing depicting the skull and the flowers can be seen.
Viewed from a distance the image is more abstract and the colour gradients in the background stand out.
In one of the photographs, the painting is deliberately overexposed to make the painting more visible.
I like this play with elements that only become apparent to the viewer at different angles or when the painting is lit differently.
This painting has to be sort of peeked at.
It’s not attractive at first sight but only after a longer look does the viewer find their own thing in it.
