STORY OF THE PICTURE

This painting came to life as a playful accident. At the time, I was fascinated by the work of Alphonse Mucha. For his era, he achieved a masterful form of visual shorthand – almost like painterly stenography. With just a few strokes, he managed to capture the essence of an entire story.

And that’s why this painting isn’t called Carnivores, but Mucharnivores – a tribute to this remarkable artist.

It began with delicate floral motifs, a sense of decorative dreaminess and the feminine principle. Then I added sharp orange triangles over the top – as if they didn’t belong there at all. And yet, it’s exactly this contrast that creates the tension holding the painting together.

A collage of two worlds.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PAINTING

Floral forms were painted in gentle washes and layers. Bright geometric shapes were added later, disrupting the softness with sharp rhythm and bold colour.

Varnished and ready to hang.
