THE STORY OF THE PAINTING

I worked on this painting over the course of two years. It was a strange time — as if I could feel the subtle tension of the calm before the storm. A quiet forewarning of change.

The painting could be described as surrealist or symbolist. The female figure holds a kind of glowing miracle above her palm — inspired by an orchid. A second part of the flower covers her face. Or is she choosing to hide something? The painting certainly raises more questions than it answers.

Whether I like to admit it or not, every painting is a form of art therapy for me. For the viewer, each piece can act as a mirror to the soul — it’s entirely up to you what you see reflected in it.

The piece is varnished and symbolically signed with both my name and my pseudonym, Edward Wolf.
