STORY OF THE PAINTING
This painting is part of the Conversations with Death miniseries, created during a time when I strongly felt the presence of death in my life. As usual, I processed everything through a paintbrush – a form of art therapy. The result was a few still lifes featuring skulls. Quiet paintings about things we rarely speak of.
These days, I’m back to living a calm and ordinary life. But that chapter has undeniably left its mark on my work.
As you may already know, I love contrasts. Fresh flowers symbolise the fragility and beauty of life. A skull represents impermanence and finality.
Life and death, side by side. Exactly the kind of truth we often avoid facing within ourselves.
