STORY OF THE PICTURE
A simple box full of wheels.
Small and large, all precisely in place.
It may not be obvious at first glance, but they all turn gently and slowly. They move, click and leisurely bite the history of an ordinary day.
It comes over me most at night, when I can’t sleep. Something inside me is always on the move.
Teeth on wheels gently touching and whispering to each other. Everything is silent and almost imperceptible.
Like a watch movement.
Like a time bomb.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PICTURE
I painted this quiet still life during a darker time in my life. Whether it is noticeable, let the viewer judge for himself.
The work is inspired by the Symbolists and the work of contemporary artist – Michaël Borremans.
There is a layer of oil paint on the top and bottom edges of the painting, which was created during the preparation of the ground. It is therefore possible to leave it unframed and let this imperfection stand out.
