THE STORY OF POST-COMBUSTION

My father was born into a time when exhaust fumes still smelled of unburnt petrol and cars were essentially just a metal shell around an engine on four wheels.

One generation passed — and suddenly we have plastic, silent machines packed with electronics. You no longer even need to know how to reverse; they’ll do it for you.

This painting is the first in the series Post-Combustion. It is a quiet look back at a principle that shaped us for a long time. What once felt self-evident is gradually becoming part of the past.

Today, paper often carries what we want to preserve. At the same time, it is fragile — easily crumpled, set aside, or lost. This particular sheet bears the image of a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500, for me one of the strongest representatives of 1960s and 70s muscle cars. The paper is crumpled, as if what once seemed obvious and valuable is now becoming unnecessary.

The possibilities of interpretation remain open. I appreciate when artworks are not explicit, but instead leave space for different reflections and personal readings.
